This is my all-time favourite from Grieg, and it`s in A major, which is my favourite key and I still like it.

This (the second dance) was the theme music for “The Railway Children”, a series by the BBC in the 1950's which I watched as a child. Listening to it again immediately took me back 70 years and brought a tear to my old eyes.

I also remember this from the 1950s when I too was a child. I also looked for it for years. A beautiful piece, beautifully played. Thank you so much!

As a young child I watched entranced the 1957 series of The Railway Children on BBC, and this haunting music always brings back fond childhood memories. I would love to watch that series again but unfortunately has been lost.

I played this in my youth orchestra a few years ago before I graduated. One of my favorite pieces.

Wow...simply wow...I informed my older children that this is one of the pieces I want played at my funeral.

I first heard this glorious little piece when the BBC children's television service used it as the background music for a production of Nesbitt's the Railway Children in the 1950's. Jean Anderson played the Mother. Later in the 1950s I purchased a World Record Club recording of the 4 Symphonic Dances and now I play them all as part of a piano duet team. Memories!Peter Winterton

This beautiful lovely haunting song reminds me of my Big Bad Baby Twinkle -- as a kitten - gavotting and prancing about with great self-assurance, then as a large but lovely (and dangerous, LOL) cat and then as a much loved and tolerated beauty Purrscending into Heaven at the age of 18. Miss her every day -- look up her name-- you'll see why.

The opening of this piece was the hauntingly beautiful music used in the 1968 BBC series of The Railway Children - ah, happy memories!

Is it just me or is this song feeling like a walk into forest?
