Joseph! I just discovered your channel. So much of what you are communicating here echoes what I seek to transfer to my students. I will be sending them to your channel to provide "authority" to the message I'm delivering. Much love for your posts. You are lifting the bass community!

Thank you for this video and this channel! This is the nuts and bolts of preparing a piece and I love it! Knowing how to practice and getting the best usage out of your practice time is so important. Please keep sharing when you can! I appreciate all that you do!

It is really enriching to watch go through the excerpt whilst you share your thought/preparation process. Really good stuff! Indeed it is awfully difficult to talk and play yet you do it with ease, (I always sound as if having a stroke!) Thanks for the insight!

Oh this is fantastic. I don’t play any more but if I did this would be invaluable.

Also at the beginning when you were doing little interjections reacting to the sound your bow was producing, I was reminded of Bernard Purdie, in the best possible way. :)

This video was awesome!! It was definitely talked about in the NWS Bass group chat—Mostly about how much we love your tone and it’s all about the phrasing! Please do more of these!!!

Hey Joe! Enjoying the new channel a lot. I think you said that you will be making a video on your basses. Will you do a video on your bows as well? Would be very interested to hear!

Dear Mr. Conyers: I wish one of the Double bass players of my much appreciated BERLIN PHILHARMONIC would give us such a interesting deep directly look into the life of a top of musicians like You, staying alive as a "real human being"! AWESOME and THANK YOU!!!!
P.S. A member of one of the worldwide top orchestras has to use at home a PRACTICE
JESUS, what a sobering world!

Hey Joe!, I love these videos and really appreciate them. I play the bass currently in highschool for my schools chamber, and i was wondering if you have any advice on getting better tone on the E, A, and D strings when you are playing higher notes on them, for example playing a b on the d string or especially in thumb position on any string including the g string. For me it sounds kind of empty and i was wondering what you would recommend to get a deeper sound. Thx, Love the great work!!

i'm always curious about string height. do you have any idea what yours is? or do you just adjust whenever you feel like it?
