I think that the blue/gold heat discoloration looks good, no reason to hide that for me. My question is does the heat wrap cut down on the felt heat that emits from the pipes? with the 2 into 1 exhaust I lose my factory heat shields and I don't want to get baked by my pipes.

Do I need to remove exhaust pipe? As long as I have room on my VRod to wrap.

These guys don't know what they're doing.
Start the wrap on the bottom of your pipe working your way up to the flange. That leaves the overlap lip on the bottom/back. Like shingles on a roof.
You won't have water or dirt colletcting in these spots.
