Solo Jazz Guitar - Andy Brown Solo at the Whiskey Lounge

ON THIS VIDEO - Andy Brown plays solo jazz guitar at the Whiskey Lounge in Evanston, IL March 19, 2015. This concert was a CD release party for Andy's 2015 Delmark Records release "Soloist."

For this concert Andy used a 1965 Gibson Tal Farlow guitar with a Peavey Special 130 Amplifier from the 1980's. A microphone was placed in front of the guitar to record the acoustic sound and was blended with the amplified sound in the final mix.

This night was part of part of the Thursday night "Steve Rashid Presents: WDCB Live at The Whiskey Lounge” series.

This is guitar mastery at its highest level. He's definitely taken a page out of the Joe Pass school of guitar and I love it. This guy is a rare talent and I'm so glad I stumbled across this video. I will be looking for more of his stuff to add to my collection.

As a Brazilian I can tell you guys Andy really knows what he is doing when he plays Brazilian standards. He really has the “gingado”. This is how we call the swing feel of Brazilian music.
