STEALTH Blackout Window Covers for Van Dwellers :
This is the best way to maintain privacy and maximize your insulation in your van conversion. Utilizing reflectix and black fabric will ensure a deep dark look that will appear normal from the outside and will not allow light to pass through on either side of the window cover.

Thanks for the video! I was surprised that it looked so good from the outside, you really couldn't see the covers! Sometimes you don't need to spend a lot of money to make something look good, just know-how and elbow grease. Great job, and best wishes !

I have reflectix for stealth camping in my truck and was thinking of spray-painting them black but I definitely like this idea! Appreciate the tip

My PC: New DualEx video notification

Me: Drops everything, stops working on stuff, LIKES the video, watches the video, leaves positive comment, can't wait for the next video.

One question: Do you have a video, showing your equipment (camera/camera phone, tripod, editing software, etc.) used to make your videos? I caught a glimpse of some equipment when you were filming around the windows.

Yet again great video👌👌 YOU ROCK, CANT WAIT CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT YA DO 😁😁😁😁🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗On the covers I did, instead of fabric on the inside part I used that contact vinyl paper that's used for lining kitchen drawers, for 2 reasons, one I can easily wipe them down👍 and ✌ (2) when I get tired of a pattern I can easily just put a new layer over the old (or when I'm not being lazy I'll peal it and start over)

Window covers/insulation (10mm thick) for my 4Runner, 5mm black EVA foam sheets 24" x 40", and Reflectix (another 5mm) glued together with 3M Hi-Strength 90 spray contact adhesive. Go heavy on the glue, I'm talking wall-to-wall coverage on both the foam and the Reflectix. Then using the templates I made for the six side windows and the back window (equals 4 templates) trace the window pattern onto the oversized black foam with a silver Sharpie and cut to exact fit using very sharp 10-12 inch scissors. All black on one side for heat absorption in the winter and silver Reflectix on the other side for heat rejection in the summer, and with 10mm total thickness good insulation with little or no bending or warping. I tried using Reflectix and fabric but it was too thin and warped on me.

Clever clever. Similar to your idea i blacked out my windows by cutting out attic foil inch thick foam board to wedge in the windows but before putting em in i spray painted them flat black with heat proof paint. BAM keeps inside my van worm in the winter and keeps more heat out in the summer. Doing this blocks your left and right blind spots so if your van doesn't already have em slap on a pair of blind spot mirrors, you can get a pair for a buck at the dollar store. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤

Will you be doing a backup cam installation for backing up? What things are you thinking of doing since visibility is pretty slim with everything you have in the back. You're doing great work on this and hope things continue to move smooth.

Great information! Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much. Third party window cover makers are extorting clumsy people like me by charging hundreds of dollars per cover. I believe in capitalism but that’s just greedy capitalism. Thank you for sharing an easy, nice looking and affordable diy solution.
