I'm a 36 year old dad. That's extremely encouraging. 15 years for something I wasn't sure I'd see in my lifetime.

More like 50-70 years in my opinion. Neil himself said that in the 20's when lasers became an idea we didn't have a clue what to use it for and if we were to pull the funding based on the fact that it won't help immediately then we would never or very slowly advance and it was 50 years before we can implement our creation correctly. Now we only just started working towards commercial within the past 15 - 20 years and only really kicked up the rate of research and development in the past 10 with space x and other independent agencies working on the bigger picture gives us a time frame of at least 40 years, then we need to make sure it's completely safe to the common consumer so add another 5-10 years and that's the more likely time frame

I've always thought Heinlein's concept of living INSIDE the moon is a conceivable idea. The moon would make a great stepping stone for further space exploration.
