5. A lump or swelling in the neck
This symptom is one of the most common signs of thyroid cancer. As cancer settles in the thyroid… It can lead to a lump or swelling in the neck.
Known as Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma… or PTC… Which is described as cystic lesions in the neck. This symptom may highlight that the thyroid cancer is advanced… And seeing a medical expert immediately is vital.
4. Hoarseness
Hoarseness is the medical term used to describe a change in your voice quality… And is an early sign of thyroid cancer.
There are two types of hoarseness: Functional… or non-cancerous
and organic… known as cancerous. Functional hoarseness may be caused by several factors… including vocal strain… overuse… or throat infection....
While organic hoarseness will occur when there is a physical blockage in your throat… such as a tumor or growth.
3. Throat pain and tenderness

The medulla refers to the inside of the thyroid gland… And contains special cells called parafollicular C cells. Pain and tenderness will occur when these C cells become cancerous.
2. Struggle to swallow
Because of its prime location in the neck… Thyroid cancer can also make it difficult for you to swallow… Which is another warning sign you shouldn’t ignore. Because of the tumor… The thyroid can become enlarged due to abnormal growths like nodules. As a result… it can press against nearby structures such as your larynx… And cause difficulty swallowing food or liquids.
