I am from Hartford, Connecticut in the U.S. and planning to study abroad at the University of Hertfordshire this autumn. I always found it ironic that the I'm going from Hartford to Hertford. I was watching this video to lean more about the region and it just blew my mind to find out that my home city is actually named after the city that I'm going to be studying in. 🤯

I was hoping to see Wheathampstead, place of my childhood. I lived in St Albans for a few years so that was lovely seeing it.

Another great video. I grew up and went to school in Bishop's Stortford. I was somewhat surprised that Harpenden wasnt included.

I’m really loving some of these reintroductions to quite a few happy memories. You do find some lovely locations dotted around. Thank you.

Totally agree with your selection. I moved to WGC from London 20yrs ago and still enjoy how pretty the town centre is.
I often visit St Albans as it’s only a 15 min drive and also think it is very pretty and worthy of being placed as your No.1. 👏🏽

Lived in Berko for 4 years. Beautiful, but not a lot to do there except eat and drink out. Which is very enjoyable but as young parents we had to drive all the time for entertainment for the kids, and larger choices of shops. Having said that Berkhamsted is forever in my heart.

I can’t believe it! Hemel Hempstead got a mention, but yes that old High St is lovely.

I feel very proud that my hometown is number one. St Albans is just so wonderful. But this video was really informative S I notice I’ve never been to the other cities, only driven past them, even though they’re so lovely!!

My Dad was involved in the development of WGC. It’s pleasant if a little to regimented, like Milton Keynes. St Albans is a good pick for first position.

I live in Cape Town since 1995 where there is a suburb, Pinelands, modelled upon welwyn Garden City even a road named Welwyn Ave. It is a leafy, pleasant place. I would have been disappointed if Hitchin was not included as I knew it well, having close relatives who lived there & worked there before emigrating.

Excellent video, and I (mostly) agree with your list!
Have you considered covering Buckinghamshire? Plenty of small, pretty towns there.

I used to drive up to St Albans from London to visit my ex-sister-in-law who had a Start Right shoe shop slap bang in the centre of the town. Also had excellent Sunday Lunches there too! Fond memories of that place! Great vid of Hertfordshire and stunning towns with an abundance of history worth taking a visit to.

Having lived bordering Rickmansworth for most of my life then moving to Hitchin, before settling just outside Ampthill, I am pleased to see that they are all deemed by yourself some of the prettiest towns in their county ❤

Great video and great narration. You taught me a lot about my home county. I had family who lived in Stanborough, Welwyn, and always thought it was a lovely place to live. And I have family still living in other parts around the county.
However I was thrilled to see my own birthplace as number one, the city where my parents grew up [within walking distance of Hatfield Aerodrome], went to school, married, where my brother and I were born - although dad was head hunted and we grew up in NZ. However my heart has always been in St. Albans [I just wish I could afford to live there but that is well out of my reach unfortunately] and the cathedral is, to me, the most beautiful in the country.

AVE VERULAMIUM.

And have you covered Suffolk, I lived in both Clare [my grandparents moved there from St. Albans] and Stowmarket and still fondly remember Sudbury, Bury St. Edmonds, Ipswich, as they were 30 years ago. While Long Melford will be known to many thanks to Lovejoy.
