Panasonic G85/G80 First Look

The Panasonic G85 is the successor to the Panasonic G7 and shares its DSLR-style design with twin control dials and fully articulating touch display. It also uses the same sensor as the G7, but with no AA filter. The G85 receives a new 2.36M dot OLED electronic viewfinder with increased magnification over the G7. It also has a longer eyepoint. The camera also gains in-body 5-axis image stabilization and Dual I.S. 2 as well as weather and dust-sealing. In now uses an electromagnetic shutter and features a new in-camera focus-stacking mode. Like its predecessor it is 4K-capable, has built-in Wi-Fi and utilizes Panasonic's Depth from Defocus AF.

The screen seem to move a lot when you're dragging the focus point at 1:20 as though the hinge is loose. Is this normal? Odes the GH4 has this issue too?

The G7 outputs over HDMI to an external monitor ... but only until you hit record. Then the external feed is cut!  I assume the G85 behaves the same way - if so, that's still a big plus for the GH4.

Can you help me? I just purchased a Lumix G85 and the screen hinge cover on the bottom has a little bit of play in it. Is this normal?

How does the G80 compare to the GH4? I see that the bodies are both roughly the same price (£700 Vs £719).

I am not a Pro, and would be looking to use my camera for mainly stills (concert photography and travel) as well as short films / Youtube - with the possibility of doing a feature film in future.

Is it worth going for either the G80/GH4, or opting for the cheaper G7 instead (and using the money saved for lenses)?

Xiaomi Xiaoyi was able to put a 20.3 megapixel sensor in a $450 body with two lenses. It's sad that Panasonic is protecting the GX8 by not giving us the latest Sony sensor.
