📼Video Summary:
The two types of scales: a Hanging Scale and a Floor Scale. The Hanging Scale using a Rack and Pinion Gear and two springs to tell us how far much weight is on the scale. The Pinion Gear turns and affects which number the red pointer is going towards. This works because of Hooke's Law - which tells us the relationship between how much the spring stretches to how much force is used. However, if the Elastic Limit then the scale may no longer work properly. The floor scale works off of similar principles but the spring is a lot smaller and the weight is distributed across several supports. If the scales get off then they may need to be calibrated to adjust where the 'zero' mark is.
