Servicing The PCV System

A functioning Positive Crankcase Ventilation System can make your engine last longer while saving the environment. A plugged PCV system can cause driveability and longevity problems. They're really simple to take care of, and often neglected!

You have a knack for teaching. I just discovered your channel, and I think it is really good.

Good video. In the old days we would just spray carb cleaner in a shake it until the ball was free. Always worked.

Nice explaination. Such a simple system but has an important purpose, as you said. Thanks for the video!

Corolla GTS engine, run a catch can with return to sump and a secondary line from catch can to exhaust primary/secondary union. You get vacuum of the exhaust holding negative pressure in the crankcase, you get a clean air inlet, no valve or plug fouling and great air/fuel mixture.

Most of us don't have a ultrasonic cleaner in our garage ! Maybe you should have shown how to clean it for normal backyard mechanics!

Here's some interesting but irrelevant information...In your closing scene, you have a REZNOR shop heater in the corner of your garage. That company is of the same family as Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, from Sandy Lake, PA. I went to school with his cousin Dave Brown at Slippery Rock University in 1992.

Berryman's B-12 Chemtool...put a few ounces in your cylinders (and an ounce or two in your oil) before an oil change and then wait 24 hrs before driving spiritedly and then proceeding with your oil change. Your rings will thank you.

Catch cans .. Are my preference to PCV setups. Recycling crankcase Goop back into the engine is Not Ideal.. by any yardstick.
PCV setups are THE reason that Direct injection engines Massively mess up their intake vales.
I'll worry about the Atmosphere as soon as I stop seenig Dump trucks putting out Solid columns of black soot ..from their twin ex stacks... with each Gear change
