I make a scatterplot, calculate the Least Squares Regression Line, find correlation, and then make a Residual Plot to verify the linearity of the scatter plot.

After make a regression line the calculator stores all the residuals in a list. Go to the List Menu, find the RESID list and store those values in an empty list...like L3 or L4. You can then square all the residuals...add them up...and there is your sum of the squared residuals.

You sir have saved my life

you're the best, subscribed.
I'll tell my other AP stats class mates about you omg

Yes, they have updated the software and I looks different now. You need to go somewhere and turn off the wizard...or just put L1 for the xlist, L2 for the y list, 1 for frequency, and y1 for the regression EQ.

Hi! I usually don't comment, but I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of the videos! Your videos have helped me on several AP Stats unit tests this year, and because of your videos, I got the highest score on my first quarterly. I have my midterm tomorrow, and I'll be watching every video and thumbing them all up. Go Mr. Tarrou!!!

If I am reading your numbers correctly...I made a scatter plot and then a residual plot and I would say that a regression line is a good model for this data.

If you type in the type of calculator and what you want to do you can probably find any thing on YouTube and the official TI site has plenty of videos as well.

Put each x in four times in L1 and then the corresponding y values in L2. L1:1, 1, 1, 1, 5, 5, 5, 5... L2:21, 19, 25, 27, 38, 38, 45, 41... Then make the scatterplot and regression line. Does that make sense?

Thank you soo much, its right before the AP test and my r and r^2 wasnt appearing. You have saved me, the reason it disappeared was because my friend stole one of my batteries and wiped out all my programs and stuff....

The full name is the Least Squares Regression Line because you want to minimize the total area of the squared residuals. If you don't square the residuals the sum would always be zero. Are you the reason I got about ten subscribers within an hour or was that a coincident. I appreciate you telling your friends about my videos. I can't thank you enough\:D/ I hope you do great in your class and pass the AP test!
