Borneo is a South-east Asian country before but it's now split into three countries, Indonesia, Malaysia and the sultanate of Brunei. So basically, it's lore comes from the old folktales of these countries when it was still a whole country itself iguess.

borneo folklores are actually interesting and as someone who's lived there for quite a long time, the aesthetics of the character and world design is a good resemblance to the island itself.

Borneo is southeast asia and I'm glad we're getting more action adventure games taking influence from anything other than european and chinese and japanese high fantasy settings

I wish someone would do an open action adventure rpg with the hindu and buddhist aesthetic of Asura's Wrath

Could be interesting, but will need a whole lot of polish, immersion is very important when it comes to these types of games, the world needs to intrigue you as a player and compel you to explore it. Regardless of inspirations, Genshin's absolutely seamless and gorgeous world set the bar really high for me, while Breath of the wild was simply stellar. I think the story and world need to be absorbing enough for me to give this a try, indies can be full of surprises, hoping for the best.
