For the short position you said “you can borrow shares at a high price and then buy them back at a lower price” but if you borrow shares and you already have them, how can you buy them back? In other words, how can you buy back something you have already borrowed, if that makes sense? Just trying to understand, thanks.

Or GBP/EUR, if long, you SELL EUR to BUY GBP, and when short, you SELL GBP to BUY EUR. Some brokers also have EUR/GBP, which is the inverse of the previous

So the broker gets the price of their owned stock down and you keep the difference?

Yes and the risk is if you’re wrong you can go from making $5 to owning $50+

So basically you are getting the stock by borrowing it and u sell it at a lower price to make profit. I’m confused..

1. How does that person agree to loan you the share?
Is there interest you would pay them?
What happens if they want to sell the stock they lent you?

I don't get it still. Why would I have extra $5? Is the website lending dollars in value, and not crypto currencies themselves?

Whats the term to refer it? Buying high and selling low.

Ok so if you had no stocks already bought from that investment then you can borrow/sell it high. And then when the price drops you can buy the stock at a lower cost. And the system will automatically sort out the diference?

My question is...who are these people letting you borrow thier shares and why? Like what do the lenders gain?
