I just clicked to find out what the -2 stands for in 14-2, but I learned a whole lot more in a short period of time. Helpful video~

Good stuff! Found a couple of deals on wire and deciding which ones to keep on hand for future projects have 12-2 and 14-2 right now. Might buy some 14-3 to have

Great video!
I’m wiring a kitchen in the basement from the panel that is also in the basement. Should I use all 14/2 wire for all the outlets and 2 gfci outlets in the kitchen or I need 14/3 wire for some of them? Thanks you.

Question - on NM cables, the "2" or "3" tells you how many conducting wires are in the NM Cable and the ground wire does not count as a conducting wire, only hots and nuetrals wires count. So why is it that on extension cords, they are always listed 14/3, 12/3, 10/3 yet they only have one hot and one nuetral wire inside the jacket of the ext cord. Why are they not listed as 2 ?

When terminating the wires at the panel do all the wires in the romex need to be cut the same length? For example if my breaker is at the top of my panel and my ground bar and neutral are at the bottom can i cut the breaker hot wire short or does it need to be the same length as the neutral and ground so I would need to loop the extra length and run it up to the breaker? Thanks

So if the existing outlet has 14/3 coming in and out. And I want to install a new outlet from that existing one, can I use 14/2 or do I need to get 14/3?

If you have extra 14/2 cable, can you run a pair of 14/2 cables with the two neutrals connected together instead of using 14/3? This would be for a bathroom light/fan combo with two switches.

Thank you for being so responsive. I hope I don't sound crazy. I want to run electricity to my shed, the closest source is at my A/C which is 220. Is there a way to branch 110 from the 220?

14 gauge for a dryer? Seems pretty light. I use 8 gauge on stove and dryer receptacles.
