Thanks for the discount codes Sanjay. We have a hardware Chorus Echo unit in our studio but this is just so nice to have on hand as lil' extra. Cheers to you.

Concerning the question of the week, I concur with the other person. There will ALWAYS be people who want the physical thing and are willing to pay for it. My mom said something years ago when I was a kid, "When YOU buy, you appreciate it more." Those type are the reason physical products won't disappear.

As for the question of the day, as long as people who use Synths exist, hardware synths will exist. It's like THE dream as a musician, to have SOME kind of hardware synth as part of our musical palette.

Definitely a place for hardware synths in the studio, not to mention on the stage!
I started my synth journey in the mid 80s with (yep, you guessed it) a Yamaha DX7. Went to a KX88 w/ tone modules (Yamaha, Korg, Emu, Roland) for some years. And then went 100% 'in the box' for years. Now... the circle is complete. I now have a Waldorf Iridium (keyboard version) as my desert isle digital synth, and am looking for a desert isle analog synth (Moog? Sequential? Arturia?).

I don't think I've ever seen a video with so many different advertisements, such a high advertising content (almost 100%), such a misleading headline and so little relevant information.
Not for me, but otherwise quite nicely done.

I picked up the new Teenage Engineering Caveman edition. So many rock sounds, grunts, mammoth and even pterodactyl shrieks. The sabertooth tiger growl has a lot of great analogue warmth and the bone drums are kickin’.

Yes, I still prefer hardware instruments for live performance bjt in the studio I'm all in the box. When a song is done, I translate vsti patches to similar hardware ones.

Trying the Safari Pedals' Fox Echo Chorus. It really leans into the hardware emulation by emulating the Space Echo preamp and even tape noise, though you can turn the noise off. Wish list would include some sort of wow and flutter emulation. Thanks, Safari & Sanjay. 👍🎹

The NI Kontrol S software update was long overdue, and is definitely welcome. But, you're right -- there's still more work they need to do. CC, PC and Note messages are great, but they still need to add NRPN capability to be able to fully support modern hardware synths (for instance, the Take 5 or the TEO-5). There also needs to be some work on the way the encoders "take over" an existing position -- perhaps more options in the way the encoder position/movement data is sent. Related to the knob position sends, there's also not yet a "read back" of the current control position that I've been able to get working. The NRPN omission is not as much of an issue for software-only users, but the knob position reporting affects all users. I know the Kontrol S hardware is capable of this, since it does work with Komplete Kontrol and NKS-II compatible software.

I haven't yet touched either the new Moog or the new Polybrute 12, but if I were to buy either, it would probably be the Polybrute. I have an original six-voice Noir now, and absolutely love the workflow. Well, 99% of the workflow, but hey, nothing is completely perfect. I feel like Moog tried to go after the Polybrute with the Muse, and fell a little short in a few ways. The Muse is still a great sounding synth, and if someone were to send me one, I'd find it a home in my studio! But, between the two, my money would go to the Polybrute 12.
