Don't underestimate 600 to 1200 fool! One man played fried liver against me, I crushed him with the complex traxler. I played London many played caro kann. Many played Gambits and advanced stuff

The difference between 500 on shorts and videos and 500 in real games is a little too much for my tiny brain to fathom...

You absolutely underestimated both of the first 2 ratings, I can never scholars mate a 200 elo

Vienna all day. Get so many people accepting the gambit and quickly falling behind in material.

openings for newbs (including myself) are:
London (white)
Kings Indian (black)

These are non-theory based and simple to learn.

For me the opening:
0-600 = play whatever you like, it doesn't matter
600-1200 = play system opening such as london and kings indian because it is easy to remember the opening setup.
1200-1800 = now its time to really learn and master theory. When playing london i use jobava london variation. I need to learn the main lines, englund gambit, benoni defense, and other stuff. The same with caro kann, i learn the classical variation, exchange variation, advance variation, panov attack, fantasy, and alien gambit. If white did not play e4, i play slav defense as the structure resemble london in a reverse way, so its easier for me to remember the theory.

At 800 half of all players fall for a simple trap in Queen's gambit. I'm 1050, but i have a mini, where i practise new openings.

Everyone above 1000 elo has studied the fried liver main line. It’s not a cheap trick, it’s just a balanced and equal opening.

Most common openings I come up against at the 300-400 elo are the king’s pawn followed by the knights

500-600 is the 4 knights or variation of the ruy Lopez, and the caro kann

I’m a 500-600 elo player who just made my account and is in wood division, and most people I play do such complex gambits like Italian Game, Englund Gambit, Ponziani, and Scandinavian, and the lines are too complex so I always fumble and fail to counter it properly. Don’t underestimate them 600 elo players

Been playing fried liver guys in the 600-1200 range. Gave me a real good laugh every time sub 1000, but when i made it to 1000 most players at 1000+ know how to not lose against it. I even lost once after a successful fried liver.
