Kayak repair & restoration - DIY

Last year I bought 2 kayaks on eBay, for a bargain of £40! Got them home and after closer inspection I realised they've been fixed before. Badly fixed. So I started stripping down old repairs, got rid of all stress cracks and painted it. Here's the video of the first one!

outstanding !!! i use to charge 25 bucks to fix a stock tank and 50 bucks to fix a truck drivers fender. not a patch but a repair. so many people make the bad mistake of using roven woving for there repairs. matting is the only way to guarantee a solid repair. brilliant idea using the bicycle inner tube to prevent contact of the glass and metals. love the black gelcoat

I've just got a fiberglass kayak for £50 of eBay, it's scratched to high heaven some shallow some deep, lots of holes too. I'm going to have to sand the whole thing down, fix her up and then repaint her. I've never done anything like this before so I'm by watching YouTube vids of kayak repairs I can gain more knowledge, do you have any advice? Also it has no hardware on it like netting, straps and such, are they easy to put on if the kayak was never built with them on?
Edit: good idea for the seat too, I'll do that as its rather uncomfy 😊
