[Scene opens in Greg’s bedroom. He’s sitting on his bed, looking bored and staring at the ceiling. He sighs dramatically.]

Greg: (to himself) Ugh, I wish my grounding would just expire already!

[He closes his eyes and pretends to make a wish.]

Greg: (whispering) I wish I could play video games again…

[Suddenly, Mom walks in, catching the tail end of his wish.]

Mom: (raising an eyebrow) Greg! What are you wishing for?

Greg: (startled) Uh, nothing! Just… thinking out loud!

Mom: (crossing her arms) It sounded like you were wishing to get out of your grounding.

Greg: (nervously) Well, I mean, it’s been a while, right?

Mom: (angry) A while? You think that makes it okay to wish away your consequences?

Greg: (defensive) I just thought maybe if I wished hard enough, it could happen!

Mom: (sternly) That’s not how it works, Greg! You need to learn that actions have consequences.

[Greg rolls his eyes, trying to keep his cool.]

Greg: (muttering) It’s not like I did anything that bad…

Mom: (raising her voice) Not that bad? You need to take this seriously!

[Greg looks down, realizing he might have pushed his luck.]

Greg: (sighing) I get it, Mom. I just really miss playing games…

Mom: (softening slightly) I understand, but you need to focus on your responsibilities first.

[Greg nods, looking disappointed but accepting his fate.]

Greg: (quietly) Fine. I’ll just… keep wishing, I guess.

[Scene fades out as Greg lays back on his bed, staring at the ceiling again, dreaming of video games.]
