Sign Language Training for Police Draws Criticism from UDP’s Alberto August

The sign language training for several cops training continues today amid the brutal criticism from the UDP’s Deputy Chair, Alberto August.  As we reported yesterday, August took to social media, criticizing ACP Gillett and the sign language training initiative.  He referred to the training as ‘simpleness’ and wrote, quote, “What on earth is this about 30 police persons being trained in sign language? Is it because you too, like the prime minister, believe that we are dumb?  Ask yourself Sir: When was the last time the competence of the police was brought into question because they could not sign communicate?” End of quote.  ACP Gillett responded to August’s comments, referring to them as unfortunate.
