As former President Rodrigo Duterte faces trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC) over alleged crimes against humanity tied to his controversial war on drugs, discussions are growing within the Philippines about establishing a Truth Commission to confront the past.

Lawmakers, civil society groups, and human rights advocates are urging the government to form an independent body to investigate the full extent of extrajudicial killings, human rights violations, and state-led operations under Duterte's rule.

A Truth Commission could provide:

A public platform for victims and families

Legal groundwork for national accountability

A path toward reconciliation and justice

Meanwhile, Duterte maintains his innocence, calling the ICC trial politically motivated.

🎥 In this video, we cover:

The latest updates on Duterte's ICC trial

What a Truth Commission would look like in the Philippines

How public opinion is shifting post-Duterte

Global reactions and historical comparisons

Will the Philippines confront its past — or bury it?

Produce the names and IDs of alleged victims.

How about the victims of the substance abusers? During the former President's term, it was safe to walk on the streets. Once the City of Thieves became one of the favourites destinations in SE Asia.

She's free to say anything because she's the victims lawyer. It's up to the judge of the ICC to determine if it is valid.

Truth Commissions will never work in the Philippines. The Filipinos are a forgiving people, as Lee Kuan Yew wrote in his book, proven by the fact that 31 million Filipinos voted to the presidency the son of a former president they kicked out of office in 1986. The Filipinos are the kind of people who will still honor anyone who helped them even if that same man murdered a family member in the past. Because as the Filipinos love to say:
1) Past is past.
2) Move on na kasi.

Obtaining justice through the wrong process is injustice! What if his case is dismissed because his rights were violated during the arrest, will you take responsibility for the alleged victims?
