Welcome to our “Countdown to Christmas” Video series. These videos were shot before the release to virtual learning, so performances may not be as polished as usual.

This week begins the Jewish Celebration of “Hanukkah”, a 8- night celebration of religious freedom and the miracle of the light, an event which occurred in 165 BCE.
Each night, families celebrate with the lighting of candles and prayers, followed by games, feasting, and gifts. In the past, large family dances and celebrations were also included. This is a socially-distanced variation of the Hora, a traditional Jewish folk dance set to an Israeli folk tune (Music courtesy of McGraw-Hill Publishing, inc.). The dance, in its traditional form, is far more grand!

All COVID-19 safety procedures were followed, including
1. Small groupings, less than 25 people as recommended locally at the time of filming.
2. Less than 6 feet of Social Distance was for 5 minutes or less. All practices and other work was done with 6 or more feet of social distancing.
3. Masking was enforced for all performers (Which was easy, the students are very cooperative).
4. Proper ventilation and air quality was assured.
5. All instruments were washed after student use.

**The Recorder in this piece is only played by myself and is kept both distanced and the holes kept away from performers.**
