I have a great Peter Frampton story. I'll try to keep it short. When I was 17 in 1972, I went on a summer backpacking trip in Europe after high school. One night I went into a London vegetarian restaurant alone, and the waitress seated me with this young, long-haired, handsome chap. It turned out to be Frampton, and I had seen Humble Pie the year before live. He talked with me over dinner, took me out for a ride in his Aston Martin, drove me to his flat, played acoustic guitar for me, and gave me a Promo copy of his first solo album. The nicest guy in the world. I swear this is true.

Of course I always loved the hits, but Lines on My Face is such an awesome song, that I have just happily rediscovered.

We had a hippie chick from LA recommend this, the next day every boy in the neighborhood had a copy. I got mine on 8-Track, wore it completely out (Many scotch tape repairs), rolling in my 64 Pontiac Bonneville Station Wagon. Many hours of misbehaving listening to this. None of us got to go out with the chick, but we did get a wonderful soundtrack to the Bicentennial Summer.

I have no words for what a great guitar player Peter Frampton is. I mean, who invented the myth that the ability to play at least 27 notes per second makes a good guitarist? braindead guitar solos from shredders like Malmsteen create an image in my mind of thousands of blind cockroaches running around searching for food. music is not a sport or a competition itt is a language of emotions and mood. Framptons's guitar playing is what defines music: telling a story with your guitar. he plays his solos like every single note that he is playing is the most important note of his life. that is what his solos sound like.

Peter Frampton is an American HERO. Even if he's not American! One of the best albums of all time.

The majority of this album is recorded at Winterland in S. Francisco....Within a yrs time, Frampton played their twice....Went to both shows...The first one show is the live album...Winterland was a FANTASTIC place for shows back in the 60's and 70's with the Fillmore auditorium about a block or two away also with many great shows....Used to be a regular thing for us back in the day...Ive also seen Humble Pie Frampton's first band but he had alreadly left the band...Yea, am old....
