In today's video, I go over how to start a shirt business at home with only a heat press! Not only do I share how to make the shirts, I go over the initial investment cost to start a business like this, materials you need and cost breakdown per shirt, how long it takes to make a shirt, and pricing suggestions. This is a great option for people with limited space, people who want to maximize their time, or people who don't want to invest in an expensive printer/equipment to maintain. Hope you enjoy!

So I have started my shirt and cup business and have been doing it for 2 months now and have not made a single sale. I came across the idea just from watching different people but I just wanted to say that starting a business like this is so so so hard because so many people are doing it and you have to really know people and have a good following on socials. You have to make yourself stand out from all of the others. I knew it was hard but I didn’t realize how hard. I hope everybody has better luck then me on their small business journey!!❤❤

WOW GOD IS GOOD! This video just appeared in my feed and I knew it was God as I am in season to start my new art business. Only received that tshirts should be a product in my business just yesterday!🤯 (Look at the Lord!) It's only by Him that I could fall upon your channel and thank you so much for breaking everything down. Your video answered all my questions and I feel so blessed to walk this part of my purpose out with so much clarity. Thank you and God bless ☀🧡🕊🍃

Just for info and a heads up. I did things the old fashioned way 7 years for Christmas t-shirts. Bought a bunch of plain white t-shirts at walmart on sale, then bought iron on transfers and put them on the shirts. Then drew designs and added gem stone embellishments to outline them and added holiday type buttons that I hand sewn on. Sewed lace around the neck, bottom and arm areas. I played with dressing up the iron on I put on the shirt instead of just leaving it plain with the iron on. I love tie dying most everything. So I had fun dying them. Then sold them at the flea market for $50 per shirt in November of that year. Spent part of my summer that year doing this, but it was worth it and lots of fun. 200 t-shirts I bought in sizes large to 4x at Walmart's under garment sale in january of that year. The larger sizes sold quick. You can do many things to t-shirts. On mother's day last year I took 100 t-shirts and cut them, sewing in lace for panels and turned them into swing bottom tops with the same idea I did with the Christmas shirts, only with a mother theme. We sale other items at our stand. But those shirts sold out quick. I even took orders to make more with instructions I asked each customer how they wanted their shirt designed. Most people shrug and don't have a clue until you bring out your album of previous shirts you made. I'm a home sewer, so everything I make to sell I take a picture of it. Keep track of everything from what sold to the prices of how much things costs to make the garment. Learned this years ago from buying thrift store clothes, redoing them and selling them on eBay. Everyone loves a one of a kind outfit. Get ideas from Pinterest. It's where I learned to do panels on t-shirts. 🎉❤

I’m going to start a tshirt business and honestly if I can make $200 a day selling my Tshirts I’ll be fine with that. That will make me happy.

It's a shame! I NEED to really get myself motivated and MOVE! I have 2 heat presses now! I was gifted a Cricut Explore 2 machine a couple years ago, I bought a Cricut heat press last year. I recently bought a 5-1Heat Press machine where I can make t-shirts, mugs/tumblers, plates, hats. I prayed for God to help me make extra income to supplement my Social Security and I'm literally not using it! I felt a strong conviction while I watched your video and inspired as well; so thank you! I want to create faith-based products. I LOVE the idea of the custom DTFs; it will save tons of time, not to mention printer ink! Thanks for making this video; it really as inspired me to start my T-shirt business. I'm a Procreate artist and have an Etsy shop; however, I considering leaving that platform...Blessing!

Hi Sallie. I’ve watched hours and hours of your videos which are a wealth of small business knowledge. I love the way you intelligently break everything down for your viewers. Thank you for your grace, kindness, and generosity. I love this one so much, it answered my questions about profitability of custom DTF designs. The series you mentioned at the end sounds fantastic. Wishing you and your sweet family all the best! - Ursula ❤️

Finally a video where you tell us where to get products from! 😂 I find lots of people do this but don’t *actually* tell you where they get their transfers or clothes from so this is super helpful even tho I’m in Australia so finding reasonable prices for products I think is that hard part

I don’t know why I’ve never thought to just order my transfers. Finding a printer was the only thing that had me STRESSSSED about starting my business. Thank you so much 💙💙

Now this is how you do a video!!! This is right up my alley. I was stressing about being able to afford all these equipment for years of periodically doing research, thinking I had to just be a do-it-all because most of the videos/blogs were doing it all themselves. I have a job that I still need so this would be super time saving and hopefully profitable without losing my primary source of income. Not to mention I can choose when to create and when to outsource.
Thanks so much for this❤

I loved this busines idea!
I have a wreath business on Esty but not going to well, a lot of competition.
I am considering the T shirt busines. You gave a lot of valuable information, to inspire me.

Thank you Sallie! I have been wondering what to do for an at home business and you explained things so well, I took notes. This might be something I could do! I work a 12 hours factory job right now and have been wanting to find something I could do to get me out of that job but still bring in more money. I'm hoping this could be a way. I want to be home for my kids, since I homeschool 2 of them. Yes, it's hard and challenging while I work this weird factory schedule, but it takes a lot of time away from the family. Thanks again for this video, I hope to see more!

I've been leaning towards DTF and getting rid of my screen printing stuff since my orders haven't big as big as I'd like. Totally agree with the cost equaling out and a huge TIME SAVER.

I am so glad I stumbled upon your video. Initially I started out with a POD model, but realized it was not aligning with my brand and eye for detail. I'm feeling more confident about being in control of the design, production, fulfillment, and shipment part of my business. Thank you!
