I have 2017 tdi a4 ultra saloon and its great on fuel. On motorway i can easily get 65+ to the gallon and easily get 50 round town... awesome bit of kit

I have a 2016 B9 A4 saloon and so far so good. Ive owned it since June and havent had any issues so far. Any long standing owners offer any advice?

17:53 with the advantage of hindsight: one year after this car came out the 2018-present lexus es started deliveries (late 2018 MY19 cars) and I'm not denying the Audi A4 is a great commuter car very quiet and smooth while cruising, but the lexus ES especially in the higher tier ultra luxury trims... just blows it out of the water.
sure it's a camry based vehicle but WOW did Toyota ever nail the hybrid powertrain to be even quieter and smoother than an EV while still being able to fill up with petrol for long trips and no need for charging overnight at home
I know the ES is a higher tier car meant to compete with the 5 series, a6, and e class (and it does drive so smoothly and quietly even in that class, it really blew me away how smooth it was, I know multiple 5 series/e class owners who were jealous of how smooth my es is), but in australia it's priced like an A4, 3 series, C class type vehicle.
still kind of wish I went for an Audi for that sort of fun aspect tho cause the lexus is even more clinical and it's quite slow
like if all you want is commuter and just a pleasant experience, get a lexus ES and you will never look back
if you want to have fun while driving; this Audi is probably the ultimate mix of performance and luxury for daily use

Not sure why you've driven an S-Tronic everywhere in manual? I have the same Avant bought new, but the 252bhp Quattro. Very nice, quick car although with 8 to 10 mpg less than this one; it needed it's extended warranty though...
I specced the electronic retracting towbar like this car has (switch on left hand tailgate aperture) - a very rare option.

Surprised by your comment on rear leg room. I bought this B9 over the BMW 3 touring because of the A4s space.

Totally get what you say about the handling though. It handles beautifully!

I've always had a weird thing with Audi. I've always seen Merc as the one people get if they want to look and feel flashy. The BMW is what you get if you know your cars and like to really drive, then the Audi if you don't know what you're doing or are a bit boring. I think it's the FWD, it makes me see it as a VW Passat just wearing a posher outfit
Always liked the interiors the most though, especially with the flat bottom wheel
