The famous Woodstock Festival actually took place in the town of Bethel, 40 miles south of Woodstock. It was originally supposed to take place in the town that bares its name, but the locals rejected it.

How can you leave out Canandaigua New York

Warwick NY has a drive in movie theater. I went to New Paltz last summer and it was nice Good Food. Bookstores. Hilly but nice to walk. Minnewaska St. Park is beautiful. The metered parking takes a bit to get used to.

For this to be a useful video it should show downtown and surrounds, not cars driving down a road. It would also be helpful if the creator had spent 30 minutes gathering approximate home prices. If a "lovely peaceful town" has average homes selling for $900, 000, it probably is not of interest to the average YouTuber.

Many of these towns are lovely - but very pricey.

Apparently, this person didn’t leave New York City, or at least did not go very far from it everything she talked about was on the Hudson river. Anything that was north or west we barely seen any pictures of or we seen pictures of the wrong places in New York City folks eyes we don’t exist.

I am from a great small town in NY. Not on the list. That is good too, keep it that way and no more sprawl from big city folks moving to the towns and driving prices up.

Nyack, NY in Rockland County is a charming waterfront village in the lower Hudson Valley...

All towns and cities in upstate NY are quaint because most if not all industry has been driven out. For example, IBM, GE, Kodak, Xerox and many others, taxed out of the state or out of existence. Unless it has to do with Government, or Utilities, there are very few large employers.

The Hudson Valley is beautiful, but there is a lot more to New York State than one would think based only on this video. The only two places in the western half of the state that were mentioned were Aurora and Batavia. Having lived in central and western New York for 30 years, I can think of much better choices, for example Ithaca, Geneva, Corning, Fairport, Canandaigua, Naples, Orchard Park, or East Aurora (which is about 100 miles west of Aurora) to name a few.

I was born in Beacon 75 years ago. It wasn't "trendy" then. The natural beauty was the real deal. Now that NYC has moved in, taxes are sky high and it's crowded with people trying to be socially and politically correct. It's interesting how people tend to bring with them the very baggage they name as reasons to move from one place to another.

The photos of "Rhinebeck" were actually of Kingston, including very prominently displayed "Kingston High School"! Also, the photos of "Woodstock" don't show any of the picturesque town itself, just mountain scenery.

As someone whose family has lived in Canandaigua ("The Chosen Spot") for 200 years, I fervently hope outsiders will NOT "discover" the area. The best thing about western NY is how far it is from any destructive giant metropolitan area--the kind that destroyed Vermont and the Adirondacks. And Batavia? Are you kidding?! There are half a dozen places near Batavia far more scenic, historical, and generally interesting. But don't tell anyone.
