Trek fuel exe ride with and without a battery

I headed to brushy creek texas and road 1/4 noth on my trek fuel exe with and without a battery. 1/4 notch is a loose, rocky, janky, blue/black trail with tons of climbing. Fitness data shows i burned more calories WITH the battery assist. I attribute these results to a couple of different factors. 1. Having the battery assist does not reduce how hard i push, it just makes me faster. 2. The battery assist does keep me from completely depleting my energy si spend more time riding and less time resting.
