So Ed started talking immediately which means people had probably already been clapping for a while because realistically after the name is called it takes a little bit for them to make it up to the stage so just because they weren’t still clapping a full minute later after his name was announced like his fans probably were in the audience doesn’t mean that they were being rude or refused. Also think about any time that you have been at an award show. Clapping for every single person gets a little bit old and it doesn’t mean that you’re not happy for them
