Ultra-Sounding A Red Panda- Toronto Zoo

In case you haven't heard, Suva and Ila are expecting! Red panda breeding season typically takes place from January to April, and Keepers observed several breeding attempts between Ila and Suva on March 4th. Once breeding season was over, attention was turned to pregnancy observations and ultrasounds.

Ila was trained to become familiar with standing up on a T-stand, getting warm water sprayed into her belly (to mat down the fur) and to feel the sensation of the ultrasound probe. So when the real thing happened, she was very comfortable and the procedure was seamless. Watch to see footage of her two cubs! #TrainingTuesday #BabyReds
