I went to the ER 14 times for crushing chest pain that came on without physical exertion. I could be reading a book or watching TV and start having chest pain. The ER doctors kept telling me it wasn't my heart. They said it was "a pulled muscle" or "heart burn". Well, I ended up having a heart attack and got three stents. If you are having chest pain please take it seriously.

Heart burn can really hurt and cause tightness that doesn't necessarily feel like heart burn

I was in the emergency room the other day for 8 hours thinking that I was having a heart attack. I'm 51 years old. They took two EKGs blood work and x-rays and they said that I was perfectly fine. I think it could be due to cold weather hormones and stress. But it's absolutely terrifying.

I am 57 years old, male, and I have been having similar symptoms for off and on for a while now. I am also status post microdiscectomy x 3 (twice in 2013, once in 2014) and have been dealing with nerve pain since then, doing my best to manage it with exercising, stretching, etc. For the past year, left sided sciatica has been a nightmare, and the chest tightness happens occasionally. Walking or laying down has always helped it, until recently when the bouts of chest tightness have lasted longer. Last weekend because the chest pain persisted I went to my local hospital ER, had a CT of the brain, of the abdomen, xray of the chest, EKG, and 12 hour monitoring of the heart. BP was slightly elevated, EKG and heart monitoring were unremarkable. After having discussed this with my cardiologist I am having a stress test tomorrow. Previous stress tests have shown my heart to be in good shape. Here is where things get a little interesting, at least for me. The chest tightness was irking me a bit yesterday, so I went through my usual stretching routine. I lay on my back and do leg raises with straps to increase flexibility, and in doing so I noticed that on left leg raise, I could finally tell that there seemed to be a relation to lifting the leg while lying on my back and the tendons/muscles on the left side of my chest where the pain is. I then did the right leg raise and noted the same feel of tendon/muscle on the right side of my chest, and that's when it dawned on me to google back pain radiating to the left chest and I come across things like cervical angina. So I see this pod that's being used in this video and thinking I'll order one, but before doing so I look for my pure wave massager (this is not an advertisement LOL), and I use it on the areas of the back that these guys are using the pod, and after using it for a good 20 minutes while laying down on my stomach, the chest pain actually subsided. I am NOT making this up. I had relief for about an hour, and it did start to come back, so I used the Pure Wave Massager again for a good 15-20 minutes this time while sitting upright in my chair and the pain again subsided. I wake up this morning and I am actually feeling an extended period of relief. I do think that my chest tightness has increased recently because I was in the gym a lot more and think this may have contributed to the chest pain. Note I say "may have." I also haven't been in the gym for the past 3 weeks because of the chest pain but now feel I can resume going back. I may still buy the pod, but if anyone has the pado massager or something similar I suggest giving it a try to see if it brings relief. I am also going to go for some massage therapy (I used to get monthly swedish massages a few years ago).

I hope my words are of some measure of help to some of you. I also admit to being overweight and know I need to drop a good 25-30 lbs. and will really work on that. Some stretches I recommend are yoga stretches (google Rohini Manohar), look at videos by the AthleanX guys, of course Bob & Brad, and the McKenzie Method stretches. I've incorporated some of the techniques of all of them to suit my personal needs, it's all about trial and error.

But as many have said, take that chest pain seriously and get it checked out. Even with the relief I am finally feeling, I am still getting my stress test tomorrow.

Yep! I had chest pain that turned out to be strained ribs - it hurt to breathe, I could barely breathe well enough to walk from my car to the Dr. Office door. I had been lifting heavy objects standing at a strange angle.

I've had sudden chest pain that felt like someone socked me hard, but as you say, there's another $1, 000 - that we don't have. So I'm not going to the ER if I can help at all help it. I don't recommend this for others but in my case it is always some strange pain which needs an endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, ultrasound, etc. and it turns out to be nothing.

I have unstable angina. Live in B.C. Canada. Never smoked, been on Med diet since early 70s. No high BP. Perfect chlosterol and blood sugars. But have calcium buildup re a CTangiogram.
Against statins. Looking for something natural. Started taking Vit K2 with D3. Mine occurs aprox once every 3 months. But quite extreme pain. So far nitro spray works.
