The vision of the anointed is one in which ills as poverty, irresponsible sex, and crime derive primarily from 'society,' rather than from individual choices and behavior. To believe in personal responsibility would be to destroy the
whole special role of the anointed, whose vision casts them in the role of rescuers of people treated unfairly by 'society'.

I attended a class the other day on political economics, they mentioned market failures one after the other and how government should step in, but they never once used the term government failure, or suggested that the market might be a better system to follow than government control, or that the government control might be the very thing causing the "market failure" the housing crisis here in London is the one that comes to mind, they only saw government as the answer. This was a day course given to those interested in political economy, one of the speakers was the direct advisor to Boris Johnson during his term as Prime Minister. I pushed back on the ideas being proposed (all government interventions) and got lots of nods from others in the crown but the "intilectuals" misinterpreted, evaded and hand waved the questions away, they were unable to see their actions as medling. The way they spoke about getting the public to do what they wanted them to do was shocking, manipulation and coercion were talked about openly, never asking the question if it was an abuse of power. I was so shocked by the experience, I have seen the attitude of those that advise those who run the UK and it was disgusting. THEY new the truth, it was just a matter of getting the masses to play along by whatever means was most effective, regardless of their rights as individuals to make their own decisions/deals amongst themselves. And this was the way they talked in front of people who are just interested in the subject, I wonder what it's like when they're on their own.
