What do you carry in your pockets while you go for a stroll in the woods? Do you always carry your backpack with you?

Cordage, pocket knife, kukri knife. Lighter, bivvy mess tin and empty bag rolled up. Most of which fits into mess tin with a few first aid supplies, tourniquet and pressure bandage. If im going for a couple days then ill add my uktralight hammock. And my dog.

That looks like a great minimalist setup but also a good starting point for a get home bag! I really like the survival blanket since it seems more versatile than a poncho or emergency bivy bag.

This is the second or third video of yours that I’ve watched. I am beyond impressed. Anyone could carry everything you mentioned in this video. My family always thinks I’m crazy with what I carry on me and or in the car. I can’t tell you how many times that either I needed something and had it or a family member needed something and I had it. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. Keep up the great work.

Awesome! I always have a folding knife and a lighter on me but don't wander into a forest or the desert (closer to me) without water on me. So taking water usually means a pack and my packs have many layers of elements for survival yet minimalistic as possible. Good short video!

Great stuff again! Enjoyed the adapting Leatherman and magnet light.

In addition to seasonal appropriate clothing, I typically carry a fixed blade, tinder, small hook and braided line, compass, matches, more tinder, firearm and backpack.

Excellent advice and one of the best EDC videos I’ve seen, understand what and using your gear in multiple scenarios is very important; thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to help us learn more.

Minimum is a small backpack or haversack. When I'm in the woods I stay there for at least a few hours and want to be able to sit down comfortably to brew a coffee or so

Ciao le tecniche mostrate sono fenomenali, ma la torcia con calamita che si attacca usando il leatherman è una genialità 👍😁

Good show. It's about time someone showed a practical list of minimal gear list for the wilderness. I would have added a breathable heat reflective bivy as well. What ever you put in cargo pants reduces the circumference at your thighs which creates friction reducing your speed of walking and running. Additionally, sharp and blunt objects in the cargo pant pockets are metally irritating reducing the ability to concentrate or have a clear mind to perform tasks. The only thing I carry in my pants pockets is a paper towel to remove sweat or to blow my nose - no factor in limiting my speed or my ability to concetrate. Carrying your minimalist gear on your belt will improve your walking performance. My DIY primary survival device is a 2 inch x 3 inch substrate with a retaractable whistle, a container with water purification tablets & a compass on the container lid, a removable 650 lumen flashlight, another container with tinder, a ferrocerium rod epoxied on one side and a diamond knife/hook sharpener on another side. The substrate is a survival mirror. I have a removable lanyard attached to hang on my neck. Additionally, I have a Boker folding knife, a Victorinox device and a freznel lens attached on the mirror side. Beyond that, my water is mounted at my spine in a DIY hyration sack with webbing over my shoulder and around my chest with buckle at my solar plexus. My Mora knife mounted to my belt horizontally and a DIY 2 blade saw device is in a modified toothpaste container mounted horizontally on my belt so that they don't interfere with my hip or thigh for me to concentrate on my purpose. Beyond that is a whole other story.

I definitely incorporate items on my person. under a patch on my hat I keep a magnetized needle, a button compass, a ferro rod bead, and a razor blade.
On my wrist is a Suunto m9 wrist compass and other wrist has a Garmin watch.
on waist is a 3.5" fixed blade, AAA flashlight, ferro rod, and leatherman.
In wallet is a diamond sharpening card, mylar signal card, moleskin for blisters, and a fresnel magnifying card.
On boots I have 4' extra kevlar cord, and 4' paracord. I carry about 2' kevlar cord with a small neck knife.

I always carry a Leatherman. It’s got scissors and pliers. I have a smaller Fenix flashlight. It doesn’t have the magnet so I bought a little button magnet and epoxy’d it to the bottom. I also carry a fixed blade most of the time. I carry a bic lighter with gorilla tape. The riv pick from covert instruments and a tension tool. A glass breaker rescue bracelet and a paracord Prusik bracelet that I’ve used to tie many things to other things. I carry about 2.5 yards of Kevlar cord and a small sewing kit. A bit extensive but mostly small things. I’ll definitely start carrying a firearm when I can and I should probably add a handcuff key. Whenever I’m going somewhere like the library or anything where I’ll need to use a computer I also use a boot drive with Tails OS.
