That’s gorgeous. You don’t see beautiful work like this now. His wife was very young to die. The cynical part of me wonders (and hopes) she would still have got as a beautiful headstone, if they had been married for many more years. She might have turned into a nagging wife and him the town drunk. Naw…I’m going to stick with the romantic part of me and say…” he would have given her as beautiful a headstone if they had been married many more years.

I am a stone cutter. That is beautiful work. I'm sure he spent many hours on this piece. All well remembering his love. Look at the detail on the lips; to think about what was going through his head while he worked on that particular feature could keep a person up at night.
