That is, by far, the most straightforward and concise video I've found on YT for this thing.

Many thanks!

I've been having an issue with my chain slipping since I got a new cassette and chain installed. It's been back to the shop and checked out and they found nothing wrong, I watched this video separated the chain and measured. The chain was a whole inch too long. Removing the extra link fixed the issue for me.

Worked like a charm! This advice was contrary to what my LBS gave me. They told me to put everything on the smallest cog. I went with park tool and glad I did

Remember with bigger jockey wheels you will need a longer chain regardless of what is shown in this video. If you have oversized jockey wheels and you cut the chain the normal length the bottom jockey wheel will push the derailleur too far forward thus making shifts harsh. On 7x3 systems ( altus oversized jockey wheels derailleur) I needed to use an 8 speed chain with only 2 links not used.

I took the old chain and matched it with a new one, counting the links to match and that worked nicely as well.
