Brother David, I LOVED this message! The parallels the cannanite woman had with the persistent widow (Luke 18) were awesome. The lady knew who she was asking and wouldn’t be deterred. I pray that the Lord puts this kind of faith is us. Looking forward to Thursday. And btw, don’t be sneaking into Georgia without telling me! June 23rd you were at Stone Mountain and I missed you! These verses are very powerful. This is the moment that Jesus turned from the Jews to the Gentile Church!

Many people today would say… she has a “low self esteem” to think she needed to humble herself in this way.

I'm an ex-Coptic Orthodox Christian, and I came here to see how people interpret this story because I was shocked when I heard it, and all I can say is that I'm not convinced
Why is there a difference between the House of David and the rest of humanity anyway?
Isn't that the definition of racism
No wonder the gospel of Luke, which does not have this story and was meant for a gentile audience, got popular in the West
Why didn't Jesus help the woman right away? Didn't he come to save all humanity, as all Christians say
I think it would have been a great story if Jesus helped her to teach us that there is no difference between people and all people are equal, instead of calling her a dog (oh sorry, I meant a little dog)

Maybe the lady was a servant in a household of a believer?? Possibly the householder was a person of full faith that he "and his house" are covered by the householder's faith? Has any comentary recognized a possibility? Or maybe it's a stupid question. The dogs eat from the crumbs that fall from the masters table." I saw elsewhere that servants were commonly called dogs. In an early manuscript about Lazarus dismissed from the household, the passage read "other dogs" came and licked his sores ~ αλλα και. I think this might be the only place where the manuscript was altered. The scribe didn't want the reader to think the master kicked his old dog out. But "other dogs" was correct in that a servant was a "dog." Oh, and I remember something from OT about people eating the crumbs. That probably included scraping the plates. I've been in that position...eatjng the potato peelings and crusts cut from sandwiches. I would not hesitate to eat what falls on thd floor. But HER faith was great. HER faith.
