Headline 1 World’s Jewish population hits 15.8 million, on eve of Rosh Hashanah
The world’s Jewish population stands at 15.8 million on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, the Jewish Agency said on Wednesday, an increase of about 100,000 over the last year.
The annual report is based on research conducted by demographer Prof. Sergio Della Pergola of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
The agency added that of those 15.8 million, 7.3 million reside in Israel, compared to 7.2 million last year. Of the 8.5 million Jews who live outside of Israel, the biggest Jewish population center is the United States — which is now home to 6.3 million, according to the statement.

Israel will not go gently into that good night, but what does that entail?
The killing of Nasrallah marked a turning point, but it was far from the final chapter. Early Tuesday morning, Israel took the next calculated step in what appears as a carefully prepared escalation – a limited, targeted ground incursion into southern Lebanon aimed at the Hezbollah strongholds that threaten the communities along the border. All this underscored the seriousness of Netanyahu’s declaration to the UN.
To sum up, Israel will not go gently into that good night, but what does that entail? Biden says the US won’t support an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. However, since Israel’s very existence is at stake it seems likely something of the sort will soon take place.

On the eve of the Synod on Synodality, Pope Francis presided over a penitence ceremony at the Vatican in which Cardinals read a list of petitions for the forgiveness of “sins” against the environment, indigenous peoples, and migrants, as well as abuse, poverty, using doctrine as “stones,” and a lack of synodality, among others.
How about confessing your sins of not preaching the gospel, of not teaching the Word of God, of not explaining about so many events that are now taking place that are literally fulfilling last days’ predictions of Scripture?
Those are the sins that need to be confessed. Sins that we trust that we will not be guilty of!
