This summer, Newbridge Road Park in Bellmore will be “going to the dogs!” Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony J. Santino, Councilman Anthony D’Esposito, Town Clerk Nasrin Ahmad, Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin and future canine dog park users today broke ground on a new Dog Park, which will soon be open to all town residents.

“Dog parks are an excellent way for both canines and their owners to socialize and exercise right here in America’s largest township,” stated Supervisor Santino. “In just a few short months, the town will unveil a beautiful, vibrant dog park for the enjoyment of the entire Town of Hempstead community. Indeed, Newbridge Road Park is ‘going to the dogs.’”

The Newbridge Road Dog Park will be a total of 14,025 square feet, encompassing separate small and large dog areas, with a chain link fence around the perimeter of the canine facility. The grounds will be comprised of a paw-friendly synthetic turf surface, and include ramps, weave poles, hurdles and other fun amenities. The park will also have picnic tables, benches, shaded areas and water fountains for both people and dogs.

“The Newbridge Road Dog Park is a great option for dog owners who may not have a large backyard in which their pets can play,” said Councilman D’Esposito, “I am proud to partner with Supervisor Santino to provide another great community destination in the Town of Hempstead.”

Newbridge Road Park is already home to basketball, handball and tennis courts, softball, baseball and multi-purpose fields, game tables, a playground, outdoor pool and even an indoor ice rink. The dog park will be located on the south end of the park.
