ADAM SANDLER CAN ACT! - Reign Over Me (2007) | This Week I Watched...

Revisiting this movie after about 10 years, I was particularly impressed by the acting in Reign Over Me. Adam Sandler is well-known for his unusual comedic performances. This time however, his expected acting trope of loud and aggressive is flipped on its head. He instead portrays an emotionally complex victim of the 9/11 Terrorist Attack, suffering with PTSD following the sudden demise of his entire family. Mike Binder delivers on a well-written and respectful depiction of post-traumatic stress disorder, with Sandler giving arguably his best performance of his career. I was so amazed at Adam Sandler’s ability to act in a dramatic role when I saw this movie. The scene where he explains how alone he is to his in-laws is heartbreaking. Such a great movie.

i’m ngl after watching this movie for the first time recently i immediately wanted to talk about it and make a video going over it but i’m glad i wasn’t the first. i went out of my way to watch nearly every film he’s been in and still believe this is his best role. one thing i love so much about it tho is that (intentionally or not ) the game charlie plays throughout the movie, shadow of the colossus, is such a perfect game that really fits his situation so perfectly. both stories begin after tragedy has happened and both are about (at least from my interpretation) the grieving process after loss and quite literally fighting your monsters and moving on. i really hope people talk about this movie more because it is genuinely a gem in sandlers somewhat muddy film career

It's definitely one of his top 3 performances. It's this, Uncut Gems, and Punch-Drunk Love. It's a shame he doesn't get offered more work like it. Hopefully with how well Uncut Gems was received, we might see a little more of those kinds of roles.

I like Sandler, he’s good in comedies. But… I was so shocked when I saw his interpretation in this film, he’s just amazing. I thought “he’s really a GREAT actor! Better than every other dramatic actor out there!”. I’m really sorry he does not make movie like this more often…

How can you review the movie for almost 12 minutes & not mention "Shadow Of The Colossus"? The game plays a very important part in the story. You mention that Charlie finds solace in music, playing musical instruments, & collecting records. But failed to mention how Charlie escapes the real world by getting lost in the fictional world that the game provides for him. At 9:19 you show a brief clip of Charlie playing the game. I guess that's at least something.

The only thing annoying with this film is the dvd. The names on the front don't match!
