I love how episodes 1 and 2 have completely deastic ending moods. With episode 1, you feel the dread of "Oh god, I'm stuck here forever, I dont think I'll ever make it out alive, I don't want this to be my new -hell- home" and then episode 2 spits on that notion that "Y'know, with the people around me legitimately care about me, I think I'm ok with calling this my new home"

In Pomni's nightmare, we could see two things she was afraid of. One, abstraction, and two, the fear that everyone would just leave her to suffer alone. But now, she's watching everyone mourn the loss of Kaufmo, and talking about him in positive light. She realized that they *do* care about one another, including her. All the circus members (except for Jax) grabbing her hand to pull her back up is a subconscious symbol that she knows that has people she can trust now. And you can see the exact moment she realizes too. She physically relaxes, and smiles, not one of insanity or nervousness, but a genuine one. She knows that if she fell, the others would help her up. She knows that if she was in the beginning stages of abstracting, the others would try their hardest to reverse it. She knows that she's not alone anymore.

The comfort of knowing that you're not alone while trapped in a place you can never truly escape is a nice feeling

In dire situations reminders of the humanity in others helps to reinforce your own humanity. The growing closeness of the group is likely one of the main things keeping them sane. Which means the self isolating ones will be quicker to decline

Dearly beloved, we are all gathered here to listen to this wonderful music in memory of Kaufmo, a clown who loved nothing more than to be funny and to share his jokes with those he cared about, a clown that we have all lost to the horrible process known as abstraction, may Kaufmo live on in our memories as the clown who was once a good friend. We will all miss him deeply.

This part reminds one that these characters are actually human beings, not just weird looking digital puppets.
Despite their new form, they're still people and are as human as they were before getting there. Grief, sorrow, happiness, hope and lack thereof, all of those are still present in their souls

Pomni and the audience didn't know him, but the rest of the cast didn't forget about Kaufmo

On Goose's twitter, they post concept art, and Kauf is the only one who remained basically the same, they planned this from the start, but they didn't just brush him aside.
