2' Exhaust System Comparison (ST162)

About 6 years ago I had the exhaust system redone based on a fellow ST162 owner's specs. It consists of a 2" exhaust manifold from the ST202 Celica, 2" secondaries, standard cat, 2" mild steel piping throughout with two 15" resonators damping the note before reaching the stainless steel muffler.

Even after the engine was converted it sounded decidedly quiet for the configuration of the system, and I had hoped for a bit more of a 'meaty' note, but not raspy or loud enough to be illegal.

I had one of the resonators deleted and filled in with another piece of 2" mild steel. The result is the exhaust sounds more alive and the car sounds more fun while being driven.
