A high school student awakes one morning to discover that he now has a handsome face and perfect body…
The popular Korean webtoon is now an animated series produced by Studio Mir, the studio behind “DOTA: Dragon's Blood” and “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.”

Currently serialized on LINE Manga and Naver WEBTOON, “Lookism” follows the protagonist as he works hard to live life against the backdrop of various social issues. It began serialization in 2014 and has 8.7 billion views globally.
Just like the original webtoon, the story of the animated series “Lookism” also deals with the subtle lookism and materialism present in the lives of people living in modern society.
Unique character designers have breathed life into the main characters of the original manga, giving them vivid voices, dynamic direction and gorgeous effects. Through fascinating episodes with a slightly different feel compared to the original manga, this series will deliver excitement and new discoveries.
Enjoy the story of Park Hyeong-seok as he overcomes diverse encounters and conflicts and grows to fulfill his dreams.

The Netflix Series “Lookism” starts streaming from Friday, November 4, only on Netflix!

As a guy that grew up an overweight nerdy kid that dealt with bullying and rejections, and then during my teenage years started rigorously working out and packed on alot of muscles as well as grew to 6’2, this trailer hit kinda close to home for me. The difference in how people (especially women but men as well) treat you is pretty crazy, and all your character quirks that previously seemed like flaws are suddenly treated positively. Lame jokes are now funny, shyness is now mysteriousness, what used to be creepy is now endearing. It’s enough to change your entire view on people.

This Webtoon actually deserves an anime

I would say this is one of the best messaged animes I’ve ever seen. it stays consistent and the character remains true and humble to himself and others. The best line in the whole 8 episodes “I’m human too, I’m human too” that hit hard .

The animation in the scene where Vasco and Daniel are fighting is flawless. Also Vasco has tattoos.

Honestly… this webtoon started out with a great premise, and I feel like a lot of its resulting popularity had to do with said premise. At some level, everyone relates to wanting to be *more* than what we currently are— to be smarter, to be stronger, to be bolder, and of course, to look better, as shallow as that may sound.
So, my current thoughts on the webtoon’s plot and characters aside, I do hope this animated adaptation does justice to the original, long-forgotten message of Lookism: that we are *more* than our faces.

Lookism is one of the best webcomics I’ve read. I haven’t read it the whole way through, but it kept me going as much as I could. Hopefully this adaptation won’t be as bad as some of us here might assume. So far, it seems faithful to the original series it is based on.

You know... I just completed all 8 episodes and not gonna lie, i wasn't expecting it to be so fantastic! I thought it would've been a disappointment, but no! The artstyle and animation is superb, and I'd even go far and say that I honestly prefer the Netflix series more than the webtoon itself! Praying there be more episodes and seasons. This was an amazing series!

As a guy who lived with body dysmorphia, the simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking message of this story is incredible.
