I totally felt that last phrase "this strange and awful time was the happiest of my life". I spent most of 2020 locked at home with my wife and kids. It was strange, it was challenging, it was scary and yet... there was so much happiness there to squeeze. I watched my kids grow day by day like I never got to do before or will ever since, we spent the most intimate of moments together, united in the face of uncertainty. An unwanted situation that put us is an unexpected family sanctuary that I will never forget.

I remember reading the book back in 2016. I had gotten into a really bad spot with a lung infection and was hospitalised. My mother bought me the book to read and I dug into it once I was moved from Isolation into general recovery. I used a slip of toilet paper as my bookmark of all things. Pretty quickly I was honestly enamoured with the story and its characters and the beautifully bitter sweet messages it told. Although in truth I have forgotten much of the book now, besides the beginning and the final page.

I really never thought that random book I was gifted and loved would ever have a sequel, or be adapted in any way. I'm glad I have a sore memory, it'll make watching this all the more enjoyable.

My sisters favourite book, she recommended it to me and she would have loved the series. She died in April last year and I can’t get over how well they did it. Watching this felt like sitting with her on the couch. “Wandering under the moon” broke my heart. Good stories make life like nectar don’t they

Its pretty ironic that the series about global pandemic was delayed by global pandemic

One of my favorite post- and preapocalyptic series. It's the proof that intelligent entertainment with great acting and good storytelling is possible. I wish there were more mini-series like that.

This book (written year's before covid) gave me chills. The adaptation looks like a masterpiece!

Watched this series in its entirety three times now. Recommend multiple viewings to everyone because, for me, it ascended from good to brilliant the more small details I grasped. This is a powerfully atmospheric great show.

I sobbed at the end and watching the trailer now makes me tear up just thinking about how affecting the series was. A fantastic watch.

For me, the scenes in this trailer show people coming from and returning to places of regeneration and building on new habits with a greater tendency to work in the community of soil and food and local abundance. It's what the world needs now. It's what we have always needed.

So based on the book and some help from IMDB, these are the characters I think we hear speaking -
"I think this thing is really happening" - Hua.
"I can't stay here" - Jeevan.
"I stood, looking over the damage, and tried to remember-" - Miranda.
"-the sweetness of life on Earth." - Kirsten.
"But there is no before." - Miranda.
"Only now." - Kirsten.
"I was late, and you were early." - Clarke.
"I've been adrift, in a stranger's universe, for far too long." - The Prophet.
"I have found you nine times before. Maybe ten. And I'll find you again." - Miranda.
"There is no rescue mission." - Kirsten.
"This strange and awful time was the happiest of my life." - Frank.

This was truly a beautiful story. A spark of sunshine in a otherwise gloomy year.

A wonderful series. Some beautiful moments. The acting from young Kirsten, Jeevan, Clark and particularly Miranda were extraordinary. Real talent. I’m going to be the odd one out and question whether Mackenzie Davis was the right fit. She spent 90% of the series looking startled and confused.

Some of the most excruciatingly beautiful storytelling I have ever witnessed

Oh, it's the chick from San Junipero and Terminator: Dark Fate. Cool, I like her.
