Sound and Fury...

After many requests, I've made a crude attempt at adding sound to a second video - the other one is the 'Reversing Engine video from much earlier in the project. As mentioned before I'm not a sound engineer so it'll have to do, and I don't know for sure that the engine sound is accurate. I suspect it's from the Jeremiah O'Brien's engines but I can't say for sure. The other sound effects - the ambient sounds - are from the BBC's sound library and can be found here -

Other than that, this video does not show any new work on the engine that wasn't in the previous one - progress over the last month has been slow due to other commitments, but I have made progress on the steam piping and control systems and that will hopefully be added in an update soon.

I am a naval veteran and have been in the engine rooms of many ships. The undisputed loudest was when I sailed on the USS Copeland FFG 25. It was powered by two gas turbine engines like you would see on a Boeing 747. If you didn't use ear protection down there, hearing damage is guaranteed. I can imagine the noise that the engineers had to endure with THESE engines. Great and accurate video! I could listen to their sound all day!

Honor and Glory released a 1 hour video of Titanic Ambience and it's her sailing towards New York with a sunset. The cool part is you can hear the engines running inside her. They were just that powerful.

The engineering and creation of the actual crankshaft let alone the complete engine must have been phenomenal!!!

I like how you even capture the detail of it being center drilled on the front of the drive shaft.

And here's an idea for your next video do an x-ray cutaway of the cylinders.

Aside from just Titanic, these engines are really close to the engines inside the Battleship Texas, so I've sent a few people to this video to get an idea of how those engines might have looked and sounded when operating.

I love everything about the Titanic and the entirety of the beautiful Ship herself. I love the simulation of this video with her Engines going and the sound of her engine in This Video fits this masterpiece of history very well. Unfortunately there will never be another Ship like her ever again.

I hope that one of these days someone with the time AND money (This would be a very expensive project) builds a fully functioning full-scale replica of the Titanic's boilers and engines.
