My 97 year old uncle has a 23 Model Y which I’ve driven quite a bit. Being a standard long range AWD version, it rides a bit softer than the performance version of your brother’s. The rear hatch is easily adjustable so once you set it there is no danger of it hitting the ceiling. Of coarse on his Tesla he just has the standard sound system which is very good, so there is no bulky subwoofer taking up the extra trunk in the rear, leaving enough room for a medium-sized suitcase there instead. With an optional third party kit, a spare tire can be accommodated in the extra small storage space that is in front of that extra trunk (normally used for the optional 3rd row) if you live in an area prone to flats.

My uncle has had two different Tesla cars, is pleased that when he wakes up in the morning and drives to church or to the store, the vehicle is always charged, preheats or precools itself even anticipating and learning his habits. Tesla service will even come to his home to rotate his tires (for 60$) and provide routine maintenance. The 12 volt battery (mentioned by another user) has been updated to a lithium battery, using the same cells as the vehicle high voltage battery, so that it will last much longer than the old lead acid batteries formerly used for the electronics. Currently, the Y thankfully still has the stalks on the steering wheel for turn signals and shifting from forward to reverse, but that will go away with the next generation (I will not buy that for that reason!). As to using the central screen for everything, Tesla has good voice control for many functions, and driver profiles for different preferences for temperature and seat adjustment. The seats in the Tesla are both power up front, are fully adjustable, an option not found even in many luxury Japanese cars. And the rear seat pockets are on both sides, not just on one seat.

I’m not a Tesla fan, thanks to a certain man named Musk, but I think that it is an interesting vehicle that often gets bad mouthed by ICE vehicle owners who don’t consider the advantages of an EV.

I tried the RAV4 today and sadly did not have enough room at 6’6. But at least the Camry does so I’ll be getting that instead

I live in Lithuania so it's a completely different market. By now quite a few of my friends and acquaintances have had teslas and everyone of them struggled selling it. It's seems that the second hand market does not appreciate them all that much. Than again, we don't have a fully developed tesla fast charging network, so that has to be taken into account.

We own both. I prefer the RAV4, my wife prefers the Tesla Y. She hates going to the gas station. Her Tesla is a 2020 the RAV4 is a 2024, we paid $14k more for the Tesla, it has 59k miles on it and the 12 volt battery went out but that is all that has went wrong so far.

Who would've thought evaluating both models side by side? Very creative of you. It occurs to me that I shouldn't dismiss the virtues of the Rav, an suv acclaimed by many. Toyota's been making motor veihcles for the longest time and their methods have been and continue to be to correct the issues nf ix them. Great reputation for quality control through decades putting out great cars. Tesla, you need charging stations and lots of them, and their quality or lack of is as of yet unproven. Good review though AA.

I feel like my rav4 hybrid's engine is struggling to get up to speed in normal mode, only in sport mode does it feel responsive. I wonder if the rav4 hybrid only makes 219hp when in sport mode only. Coming from a 260hp 500lb/ft torque diesel SUV makes the power disappointing. Is this the same with yours?

A good comparison for those expecting to buy CPO in the next few months. Both of these vehicles are right at the end of their life cycle.
