Flood warnings remain in place in parts of northern NSW where five consecutive days of wild weather has battered the state.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for people in Northern Rivers, Mid-North Coast, Northern Tablelands and parts of Hunter, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains and Central West Slopes and Plains Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours.

Locations which may be affected include Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree, Armidale, Tamworth and Dubbo.
