KIRSH Helmets: PaintSlinger Shootout: Dusty Pines

Dusty Pines, aka Dawg the Painter, grew up in a body shop. When he was a 10 years old his Uncle put a broom in his hand and he spent every summer at his body shop. And he has been working in the industry ever since.

Dawg the Painter also builds award winning motorcycles. His custom red Sportster won at the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show as well as taking first place at the World of Wheels show in Indianapolis.

In creating the KIRSH lid for the competition, the design was sketched out on paper. Then the work began. After laying down the paint and taping up the helmet, the base coat began to peel. So, all the tape was ripped off and the process began again.

Once he was underway for the second time, the design took on a life of its own. What was imagined looked very differently than the final design. We think you’ll agree, the final panel-style lid is very cool!
