VDB is good but if it's all about the taste then Black Madeira (Violeta/Figo Preto) is the KING. It's a bit hard to grow from cuttings it's better if it's grafted on something (like Brown turkey or another vigorous grower) and it's not very cold hard. It grows in zone 9B or higher (probably it's not a big issue for anywhere in Australia)
