Να κάνω μια ερώτηση. Γιατι έχετε τόσο μισός για αυτήν την ντόπια γλώσσα και όμως οταν ακούγονται τραγούδια από τους Πόντιους, Αρβανίτες, βλάχους, κριτικούς κ.α με το διάλεκτο τους όλοι το βρίσκουν μια χαρά. This is the hypocrisy that has damaged an entire people and perpetuated so much hatred throughout the generations. It really needs to stop. All people should be respected and not trolled and harassed. Diversity is healthy and what makes this planet glorious.

Think about it from this perspective….north Macedonia never got given the name Macedonia at all and remained Varda or Panonia…and Macedonia was only found as a state in the Hellenic territories…these people who speak the Bulgarian dialect especially in western Macedonia would never have a problem or distinguish there identity from the Northern Slavic neighbours..the could simply call themselves Makedonas who speak a local dialect left from Slavonbulgarian occupiers and invaders and be left in peace to be the indigenous Macedonians..the problem is that there is a country with the word Macedonia in it!!

Vevi, previously known as Banitsa until Greek govnt changed name in 1926, was, when I first visited over 50 yrs ago, Bulgarian speaking. Most inhabitants still can speak in Bulgarian though few, mainly the elderly, now use it as first language. However, it's clear that still today even younger people in this and many other villages around Florina/Lerin are delighted to dance and to songs in ( the local dialect of) Bulgarian or as its known in that area as"dopia" I.e. local. The speeches and announcements are, of course, in Greek - and I believe it when young people tell me that they do feel Greek albeit with an affinity with their neighbours to the north.
