No Mans Sky VR DLSS Benchmark

In today's No Mans Sky "Prisms Update," they introduced a bunch of graphical and lighting improvements all over the game. They also enabled Nvidia DLSS support, which includes in VR mode too!

This benchmark is overkill at all ultra settings. But despite that, I had no noticeable stuttering while playing. And it will still translate to your experience if you want to lower settings to get a less reprojected FPS.

Benchmark Rig:
Valve Index @ 144hz + 150% Super Sample
NVIDIA RTX 3090
AMD 5900X
32GB RAM at 3400mhz
Nvme SSD

NVIDIA just now released a new set of drivers featuring the DLSS support update for NMS VR.

If you're still having performance issues, it's possible your stability may improve with this new set of drivers.

DUDE, I just saw your twitter post about wanting to make a video about this, how do you turn out content so fast XD I struggle making a video a week! Amazing as always <3

I'm still a year or two at minimum from getting a VR PC rig. I'm excited for how much better DLSS will be by then.

I love your videos, specially the long ones! You are doing a good job! ^^

Thanks for the update, had no idea. Going to try NMS with DLSS later now.

@SadlyItsBradley you need to lower your refresh rate in this game, the reason it locks at 72fps max is because the game can't handle to go up to 144hz so it has this weird function where it half the fps when it cant reach 144hz and things get very unstable.. With my RTX 3070 i put this game on 90hz refresh rate and get a smooth locked 90fps now, with 144hz it was always locked 72 and even dropped to 45 all the time.

Just a tip!

Should probably use a 2000 series or the 3060 12gb to really tell if you're getting a boost. The 3090 is a monster

Wow... The lack of stutter is noticeable, even in your video.
I purchased NMS for VR just a few months ago and enjoyed it, but the stutter threw me off.

They did SOMETHING to the game in the Prisms update that massively boosted VR performance but the change seems undocumented. I can't even use DLSS and got a big boost. Strange.

Looks really awesome... *cries in still has a GTX 1080*. I wish optimization would be done on a foundational level rather than through 3rd party proprietary options. Still, it's nice to know the stutter can be reduced for people on 20-series and above NVidia GPU's.

Getting 90 fps instead of 60 fps when fast spinning the camera to bring down the fps on the desktop version maxed on in 4k on my 3090 on a dense gras planet !
So dlss quality did get me 30 fps more 🙂👍

So I understand DLSS gives performance boosts but there is only one reason it does.... DLSS actively downscales your viewing image resolution to one that provides optimal performance. So for example if your pc can do NMS in VR at 1080P at 60FPS, then DLSS Performance setting will downscale your 4k resolution (or 2K) to 1080p while your playing. So I do not understand why content creators say NMS Looks better with DLSS On, when in actual fact your looking at a downscaled image. You may think it looks better but its actually worse, but you get better FPS for it.

The GPU frametimes are all over the place. I don't have this game but the experience can't be smooth, right?

Unfortunately still red performance instead of 90 fps with 8ms . We will need an rtx 5090 to run this game smooth maxed out in VR xD

Yup I'm going to try right now with my valve index and 2080ti !!

Damn, if a 3090 with DLSS can't run this game properly in VR..

0:55 i still see red, but it definitley less bloody than without dlss LMAO..

I have a 5i intel and a Nvidia 1650 Ti. Should my computer run the game now, considering this new update? I have been trying but its just unplayable in virtual reality, with a really slow framerate. :(

Why do you need SteamVR SS if you're using DLSS? How does it look like with just DLSS and no SteamVR SS?

I have an RTX 2070 Super and I don't see DLSS in the anti-aliasing options. I have updated the game and see the new Prisms features, but no DLSS option. Weird.
