According to a video published on the YouTube account of the German army on September 21, 2020, the Technical Center of the German army located in Meppen, has conducted first trial tests of the new German army Leopard 2A7V Main Battle Tank (MBT), a modernized version of the Leopard 2A6 MBT.

No doubt that the Leopard 2 is a fine battle tank but a question (& an observation). Does the latest A7V model have any sort of active defense capability (don't think I can see any in this video)? Also as videos seen coming out this past week from the conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijani clearly demonstrates the need for modern MBT's to deal with aerial drones. A number of countries have guided munitions for MBT main guns (that might have a chance to knock them out of the air) but seem universally lack any sort of radar fire control system to track such a target. Side note: Vehicle like the Russian BMPT "Terminator", German "Puma", or US "Bradley" all of which are armed with rapid fire cannons & guided missiles I could see modified with appropriate systems to deal with this evolving threat. Seems the greatest danger to modern MBT's is not from other tanks or ATGM fired from the ground based vehicles/troops but from missiles fired from aerial platforms.
